The Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) has taken swift action against a fraudulent online portal that misled over 14 lakh aspirants applying for the CET 2025 exam. In a significant move, the commission has frozen the bank account associated with the fake website and filed a formal FIR against those responsible.
A Widespread Deception
The fraudulent website, designed to mirror the official HSSC portal, managed to deceive lakhs of candidates into believing it was legitimate. It received an overwhelming 1.4 million visits within a short span. Several individuals even submitted their application details and fees through this fake site, risking not only their exam opportunity but also potential data theft.
Prompt Action by HSSC
HSSC officials confirmed that once the scam was identified, they contacted the concerned bank and successfully froze the account where the fraudulent application fees were being deposited. A First Information Report (FIR) has also been filed against the perpetrators of the scam, and investigations are currently underway to trace the individuals involved.
Warning to Aspirants
Candidates have been strongly advised to use only the official HSSC portal for all CET-related registrations and updates. The commission reiterated that onetimeregn.haryana.gov.in is the only authentic website for the CET 2025 application process.
HSSC has also clarified that any applications made through unofficial or fake portals will be automatically disqualified, and the candidates may face further consequences if found engaging in malpractice.
